A male tiger captured from Tedhuwa village in Belauri Municipality-2, Kanchanpur, is set to be released into the core area of Shuklaphanta National Park, authorities have confirmed.
The fully grown wild cat was discovered in a wheat field on Sunday and was tranquilized by a team of forest technicians before being moved to the Division Forest Office, Kanchanpur.
“The tiger is in good health with no injuries,” said Ram Bichari Thakur, Chief of the District Forest Office, adding that preparations are underway to safely release it into the park.
The operation to capture the tiger involved two elephants and a drone camera, which was used to locate the animal in the field.
