Case filed against 5 for involvement in T20 ‘spot-fixing’

A case has been filed at the Kathmandu District Court against five individuals involved in spot-fixing during the Nepal T20 League.

According to District Attorney Achyutmani Neupane, the attorney’s office filde a case in the court based on the investigation conducted by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police.

An investigation committee was formed under the leadership of DSP Sundar Tiwari of the Bureau after the suspicion of spot-fixing in the Nepal T20 League became public. Police said that the involvement of 12 people was confirmed during the investigation conducted by the committee.

The charge sheet filed by the Kathmandu District Attorney’s Office on Monday demanded punishment of up to three years imprisonment, and Rs50,000 fine against cricketers Mehboob Alam, Mohammad Aadil Alam (Aadil Ansari), and Nitesh Gupta.

All three were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in late January and early February.

Similarly, the Attorney’s Office has also demanded the same punishment be given to Nabin Kadel, and Ravi Maji, who have also been accused in the same case.

It is said that the case will be registered of the remaining 7 people after their name, surname and nationality are revealed.
