CCP Think Tank Proposes Ties With Elon Musk to Influence Trump on Taiwan Issue

A Chinese military think tank has recommended that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) strengthen ties with Tesla CEO Elon Musk to influence President-elect Donald Trump’s stance on Taiwan, according to insider information shared by Yuan Hongbing, a renowned Chinese dissident and former law professor at Peking University. Yuan, now exiled in Australia, shared details of a strategic report he claims to have obtained through a CCP insider.

The report, compiled by top geopolitical experts and military strategists under the direction of Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the CCP’s Central Military Commission, outlines a multifaceted approach to managing U.S.–China relations post-2024 U.S. elections. The document reportedly advised the CCP leadership to leverage Musk’s economic and emotional ties to China as part of its strategy to influence Trump, who is returning to the White House after a clear electoral victory.

Targeting Musk Through the CCP’s United Front

Yuan stated that the report emphasizes using the CCP’s United Front Work Department to cultivate closer relationships with Musk and his family members, especially his mother, Maye Musk. The United Front, described by Chinese President Xi Jinping as a “magic weapon,” is a CCP apparatus designed to execute foreign influence operations, suppress dissent, and promote China’s strategic goals globally.

Musk’s business interests in China and previous comments favoring Beijing’s position on Taiwan make him an appealing target for the CCP. However, Yuan expressed skepticism about the strategy’s effectiveness, citing fundamental incompatibilities between Trump’s policies and the CCP’s authoritarian goals.

Geopolitical Stakes Over Taiwan

The report also calls for accelerating plans for a CCP-led invasion of Taiwan, aiming to execute the operation before 2027. Xi Jinping has previously instructed the Chinese military to prepare for a potential conflict over the self-governed island, which Beijing considers a breakaway province. Yuan warned that escalating tensions between the U.S. and China under Trump’s administration could intensify the pressure on Beijing, potentially prompting Xi to act aggressively as a last resort.

“Xi Jinping faces a dire domestic and international situation,” Yuan said. “He may perceive war over Taiwan as his only way to counter U.S. pressure and maintain his regime’s survival.”

Trump’s Administration and CCP Relations

Elon Musk’s inclusion in Trump’s incoming administration as co-head of a new U.S. efficiency department, though largely ceremonial, has drawn attention in light of these developments. Musk previously resigned from Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum in 2017 over disagreements, but his renewed involvement raises questions about his influence on U.S.–China policy.

Despite the CCP’s proposed strategy, Yuan believes Trump’s administration, composed of officials with a strong stance against Beijing, will remain firm in countering China’s authoritarian ambitions. “Trump’s policies are fundamentally incompatible with the CCP’s goals,” Yuan stated, describing Trump as a “terminator of appeasement toward the CCP.”

Broader Implications

The CCP’s report also includes recommendations to bolster ties with Russia, undermine U.S.-led alliances, and strengthen relations with Middle Eastern countries opposing American policies. Yuan stressed the need for vigilance from democratic nations, warning of potentially reckless actions by the CCP as it faces mounting domestic and international challenges.

“This is a critical moment in history,” Yuan said. “Entrepreneurs and global leaders must align with freedom and democracy, rejecting CCP influence.”

Musk and Maye Musk did not respond to requests for comment. As tensions escalate over Taiwan and U.S.–China relations, all eyes are on how these strategies will unfold in the coming months.
