Charge-Sheet Filed Against Engineer Shrestha for Alleged Corruption

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a charge-sheet at the Special Court against Bishnu Kumar Shrestha, a former engineer under the Department of Water Resources and Irrigation, accusing him of amassing an unexplained wealth of Rs 48.83 million.

CIAA spokesperson Narahari Ghimire stated that Shrestha is alleged to have illegally accumulated assets during his tenure, particularly through irrigation projects and water-induced disaster control programs. The investigation revealed that Shrestha had purchased multiple vehicles and properties in Kathmandu and Lalitpur, invested in various companies, and concealed his assets in the names of family members, including his spouse, father, mother, and son.

The CIAA has called for the confiscation of the unlawfully acquired properties and has named Shrestha’s close family members as defendants in the case.

This development underscores the CIAA’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption and ensure accountability in public service. The case will now proceed to the Special Court for further legal scrutiny.
