Chilime-Trishuli 220 kV Transmission Line Nears Completion Ahead of Dashain Festival

The construction of the Chilime-Trishuli 220 kV transmission line, crucial for integrating electricity from various hydroelectric projects along the Trishuli river corridor into the national grid, has reached its final phase. This 28-kilometer transmission line extends from the Chilime Hub Substation at Thambuchet in Aama Chhodingmo Rural Municipality, Rasuwa, to the Trishuli Three B Hub Substation at Pahirebensi in Kispang Rural Municipality, Nuwakot.

Final construction efforts are focused on completing the transmission line before the Dashain festival, with 75 of the 76 towers already erected and work on the remaining tower in its final stages. Additionally, only five kilometers of power cable installation remains to be completed.

The 220/132/33 kV Chilime Hub and Trishuli Three B Hub substations, part of the Chilime-Trishuli 220 kV Transmission Line Project, have been successfully completed. Over 200 workers are actively engaged in the final tasks, ensuring the project meets its deadline.

A high-level team from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), including Executive Director Kulman Ghising and Deputy Executive Director of the Transmission Directorate Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha, conducted a field inspection on Saturday. They emphasized the importance of avoiding delays and urged the project management, consultants, and contractors to expedite the remaining work, aiming for completion by October 12, 2024, just before the Dashain festival.

The transmission line is expected to channel electricity generated by the 110 MW Rasuwagadhi and 42.5 MW Sanjen hydroelectric projects, both of which are nearing production. The NEA is under pressure to finalize the transmission line to facilitate the integration of power from these projects into the national grid.
