Chitwan Rhinos Secure Victory Over Sudurpaschim Royals in NPL
Chitwan Rhinos defeated Sudurpaschim Royals by 33 runs in a thrilling encounter at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur as part of the Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League (NPL) today. This marks Sudurpaschim Royals’ first defeat in the tournament, ending their unbeaten streak of victories against Biratnagar Kings, Kathmandu Gurkhas, and Lumbini Lions.
Chasing a target of 165 runs set by Chitwan Rhinos, Sudurpaschim managed only 131 runs in 18.2 overs, losing all their wickets. Ishan Pandey led the Royals’ batting effort with 35 runs off 19 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six. Contributions came from Saif Zaib (18), Dilpreet Bajwa (12), and Naren Saud (10), but the team fell short.
Chitwan’s bowlers shone, with skipper Kushal Malla, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, and Amar Singh Rautela each claiming two wickets, while Rijan Dhakal and Ranjit Kumal picked up one apiece.
Earlier, Chitwan Rhinos, batting first after winning the toss, posted a competitive total of 164 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Hassan Eisakhil was the standout performer with a solid 65 off 52 balls, which included six fours and three sixes. Ravi Bopara contributed a quickfire 36 runs off 18 balls, supported by Bipin Rawal (17) and Kushal Malla (13).
For Sudurpaschim, Scott Kuggeleijn led the bowling attack with two wickets, while Saif Zaib, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Brandon MacMullen took one wicket each.
With this win, Chitwan Rhinos secured their third victory in four games, bolstering their position in the tournament standings.
