CIB Cracks Down on Chinese-Operated Hotel in Thamel, Arrests Three

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has conducted a raid on a hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu, following intelligence reports suggesting involvement in ‘hundi’—an illegal money transaction system. The hotel is reportedly managed by Chinese nationals.

During the operation, three individuals were arrested under suspicions of managing and facilitating hundi transactions. “This raid was prompted by credible intelligence regarding hundi activities. We have arrested three individuals, and our investigation is ongoing,” said SP Hobindra Bogati, spokesman for the CIB. He declined to reveal the name of the hotel to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter to ascertain the full extent of the illegal operations. Further updates are expected as the case progresses.
