Civil Society Urges Immediate Convening of Parliament Session
Civil society leaders have called for the swift convening of a parliamentary session, emphasizing that legislative processes should be carried out within the framework of the House of Representatives.
In a meeting held on Sunday, prominent civil society figures, including Kedar Narsingh KC, Gopal Krishna Ghimire, Nirmala Sharma, Bishnu Nishthuri, Upendra Keshari Neupane, Prem Bahadur Khadka, Sher Bahadur KC, Yuvraj Ghimire, Charan Prasain, Dr. Choplal Bhusal, Rajan Kuinkel, Dr. Anil Bikram Karki, Dr. Sanjeev Tiwari, Dr. Bhupendra Basnet, and Dr. Badri Rijal, collectively expressed concern over the government’s reliance on ordinances in place of regular parliamentary procedures.
The leaders urged the government to respect democratic norms by avoiding the issuance of ordinances and to prioritize legislative debates and decisions within the parliament. They stressed that convening a parliamentary session is essential to uphold democratic values and ensure transparency in governance.
The call for action comes amid growing public discourse on the need for greater accountability and adherence to constitutional principles in the legislative process.
