CK Raut Advocates for Directly-Elected Executive to Ensure Political Stability

Dr. CK Raut, Chairman of the Janamat Party and Member of the House of Representatives, has called for a shift towards a directly-elected executive system to achieve political stability in Nepal. Speaking at a program in Kaski on Saturday, Dr. Raut emphasized that the current political instability persists despite the constitution’s vision of a socialism-oriented system.

Advocating Direct Elections

Dr. Raut argued that the existing constitutional framework is insufficient to guarantee political stability. He proposed that the prime minister and the chief ministers of all seven provinces should be elected directly by the people. This, he believes, would not only stabilize the political landscape but also make citizens more aware of and engaged with the political changes taking place.
