Clashes in Tinkune as Protesters Vandalize and Set Fire to Houses

Tensions escalated in Tinkune, Kathmandu, after pro-monarchy protesters breached the restricted area, vandalized property, and set fire to several houses. Clashes erupted between the demonstrators and security forces, resulting in injuries on both sides.
According to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Dinesh Kumar Acharya, the violence began when protesters engaged in arson and vandalism while attempting to advance into the restricted zone. “The police have exercised restraint in handling the situation,” he stated, adding that details of the damages are still being assessed.
Security forces deployed water cannons and tear gas to control the unrest after protesters broke through police barricades, using private vehicles to enter the restricted area.
