CM’s Confidence Vote Nullified, Gandaki Govt. Falls
The Supreme Court has annulled the vote of confidence obtained by the Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Khagraj Adhikari.
The Supreme Court annulled the vote of confidence while hearing the petition filed against the vote of confidence obtained by the Chief Minister Adhikari by tampering with arithmetic in the State Assembly.
The writ was heard in the bench of Justices Kumar Regmi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel.
Nepali Congress had moved the Supreme Court after Speaker Krishna Prasad Dhital announced that Chief Minister Adhikari’s vote of confidence motion was passed by a majority during the provincial assembly meeting on May 5.
Chief Minister Adhikari secured 30 votes during the floor test, while the support of 31 lawmakers was required to prove a majority in the 60-member provincial assembly.
