CoAS Confers Insignia on Major General Silwal and Three Colonels
In a distinguished ceremony held at Army Headquarters on Monday, Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhuram Sharma bestowed insignia upon Major General Narayan Silwal, who has been elevated from the rank of Brigadier General. Additionally, three accomplished Colonels, Surendra Sapkota, Digvijay Shah, and Niraj Pandey, were presented with their insignia, marking their promotion from Lieutenant Colonel.
Major General Silwal, in particular, garnered special attention as he received a unique promotion. However, it was revealed that despite the celebratory occasion, Major Silwal is set to compulsorily retire on Mangsir 13, adding a bittersweet note to his achievement.
The ceremony, delayed by a year for the three Colonels, was finally conducted as they returned from their overseas assignments. While the promotions occurred a year ago, the officers were actively engaged in peace missions, explaining the postponement of the insignia presentation.
The event showcased the Army’s commitment to recognizing and honoring the dedication and exceptional service of its officers, especially those who contribute significantly to peacekeeping efforts abroad.
