CoAS Sharma Confers Insignia on Lieutenant General Ashok Raj Sigdel
In a distinguished ceremony hosted at Army Headquarters on Friday, Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhuram Sharma marked a significant milestone by bestowing the coveted insignia upon Ashok Raj Sigdel, officially promoting him to the esteemed rank of Lieutenant General within the Nepal Army (NA).
This commendable advancement comes in the wake of a pivotal decision made during a Cabinet meeting held on Thursday, where it was unanimously resolved to elevate Major General Ashok Raj Sigdel to the distinguished position of Lieutenant General. The decision has been met with widespread approval, recognizing Sigdel’s exemplary service and leadership within the military ranks.
The promotion not only acknowledges Lieutenant General Sigdel’s dedication and contributions to the Nepal Army but also positions him as the prospective successor to the outgoing Chief of Army Staff, Prabhu Ram Sharma. With CoAS Sharma scheduled to retire on September 9, 2024, after completing his three-year tenure, Lieutenant General Ashok Raj Sigdel is poised to assume the reins of the national army.
