CoAS Sharma Engages with Indian NCC Team
A delegation from the National Cadet Corps (NCC) of India, currently on a visit to Nepal as part of the Youth Exchange Program (YEP), extended a warm courtesy call to Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhu Ram Sharma at the military headquarters, Jangi Adda, on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the NCC team, comprising 16 students, shared their enriching experiences in Nepal, expressing gratitude for the unique opportunity presented by the Youth Exchange Program. The delegation, which arrived on November 21, is scheduled to conclude their visit and return home on November 29.
In a significant collaboration, four students from Rastriya Sewa Dal, Nepal’s disciplined and duty-focused organization established in 1965, are actively participating in the YEP alongside their Indian counterparts. Rastriya Sewa Dal, having trained 66,776 students by the fiscal year 2079/80, is contributing to shaping disciplined and honest human resources in Nepal.
Expressing his congratulations, Chief of the Army Staff Gen Prabhu Ram Sharma commended the cadets from both nations for their successful jungle safari in Chitwan National Park and other adventurous activities across the Kathmandu Valley. He emphasized the importance of such exchange programs in fostering strong bilateral ties between Nepal and India.
Rastriya Sewa Dal, a consistent participant in the YEP since 1965, has sent 423 cadet students to various countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan, Singapore, and others. The current exchange program witnessed the Indian delegation engaging in diverse activities, including a jungle safari in Chitwan National Park and exploring the cultural richness of Kathmandu Valley and its surroundings.
In his address to the NCC cadets, Chief of Army Staff Gen Prabhu Ram Sharma expressed optimism that such exchange initiatives would further enhance the multifaceted relations between Nepal and India, promoting mutual understanding and cooperation.
