Commercial Banks Report Interest Income of NPR 49 Billion in First Quarter

Commercial banks in Nepal have collectively generated NPR 49.056 billion in interest income during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, spanning mid-October. The data, compiled from the financial statements of 20 operating banks, reflects a slight decrease compared to the NPR 49.62 billion earned in the same period last year.
Interest income remains a primary revenue source for banks, influencing their overall financial performance. Despite a marginal decline in interest income during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, several banks have reported substantial figures.
Key Findings:
Top Performers: Among the banks, Global IME Bank leads with an interest income of NPR 4.8 billion, followed by Nabil Bank with NPR 4.17 billion and Nepal Investment Mega Bank with NPR 4.16 billion.
Year-on-Year Comparison: While some banks experienced an increase in interest income compared to the same period last year, others reported a decline. Notable changes include NMB Bank’s increase from NPR 2.5 billion to NPR 2.22 billion and Siddharth Bank’s decrease from NPR 2.12 billion to NPR 1.96 billion.

Kumari Bank: Interest income increased from NPR 2.12 billion to NPR 3.04 billion.
Machhapuchhre Bank: Interest income decreased from NPR 1.47 billion to NPR 1.04 billion.
Everest Bank: Interest income decreased from NPR 1.8 billion to NPR 1.09 billion.
Nepal SBI Bank: Interest income increased from NPR 1.29 billion to NPR 1.38 billion.
Himalayan Bank: Interest income increased from NPR 1.8 billion to NPR 3.17 billion.
Standard Chartered Bank: Interest income remained stable at NPR 1.38 billion.
Nabil Bank: Interest income increased from NPR 3.67 billion to NPR 4.17 billion.
Citizen Bank: Interest income decreased from NPR 1.45 billion to NPR 1.44 billion.
Prime Commercial Bank: Interest income increased from NPR 1.88 billion to NPR 1.99 billion.
Krishi Bikas Bank: Interest income increased from NPR 1.83 billion to NPR 2.6 billion.
Sanima Bank: Interest income decreased from NPR 1.6 billion to NPR 1.52 billion.
Nepal Bank: Interest income increased from NPR 1.9 billion to NPR 2.21 billion.
NIC Asia Bank: Interest income decreased from NPR 3.33 billion to NPR 2.07 billion.
Prabhu Bank: Interest income increased from NPR 1.97 billion to NPR 2.54 billion.
Nepal Investment Bank: Interest income increased from NPR 2.12 billion to NPR 4.16 billion.
Lakshmi Sunrise Bank: Interest income increased from NPR 1.51 billion to NPR 2.86 billion.
National Commercial Bank: Interest income decreased from NPR 3.18 billion to NPR 2.52 billion.
