Committee Should Clarify Position on Bringing Private Sector Under CIAA: Minister Lekhak
12th Sep 2024
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak emphasized that the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee must establish a clear stance on whether the private sector should be placed under the jurisdiction of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
Speaking at today’s committee meeting in Singha Durbar, Minister Lekhak called for further discussion to determine if the CIAA should have authority over the private sector. He stressed, “The principle must be set first. Once the principle is clear, drafting the legal language will not be difficult.”
Lawmakers have begun discussions in the committee on the possibility of expanding the CIAA’s scope to include the private sector, sparking debate on this significant policy shift.
