Condom Imports Soar in Nepal, India Key Supplier
Nepal has experienced a substantial increase in condom imports during the initial five months of the current financial year 2080/81, as per data released by the customs department. The figures indicate that condoms worth over 12 crore 2 lakhs rupees have been brought into the country from Shrawan to Mangsir.
The statistics department reports that a staggering 1 crore, 94 lakhs condoms have been imported during this period, contributing to a tax deposit of 24,000 rupees into the state fund. This surge in imports highlights a growing awareness of safe practices and sexual health in the region.
Notably, Nepal sources condoms from four main countries, with India leading the way as the primary supplier. Following India, China, Korea, and Malaysia have also played significant roles in meeting the demand for condoms in the country.
This increase in condom imports not only reflects changing attitudes toward sexual health but also emphasizes the importance of international trade in meeting the healthcare needs of the population.
