CPN to Seek Election Symbol for 2084 BS Elections, Announces Nationwide Campaign

The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has announced plans to collaborate with like-minded political parties in preparation for the upcoming 2084 BS elections. The decision was revealed during a press conference today, where Party General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand outlined the key outcomes of the sixth plenary session of the party’s ninth central committee, held from December 12-17.

Chand shared that the party had decided to organize a nationwide interaction to clarify its vision and principles. The CPN aims to link its advocacy for national independence, the rights of marginalized communities, women, youth, students, and socialism to the election campaign.

Furthermore, the party confirmed plans to formally register and obtain an election symbol for participation in the 2084 BS general elections. The move signals the CPN’s intent to strengthen its political presence in the upcoming polls.

In addition, the CPN will launch a “people’s mobilization” campaign, scheduled to begin on March 5, 2025, with a march from Jhapa to Kanchanpur. The campaign will call on the government to take responsibility for ending corruption, controlling foreign interference, and addressing issues such as landless squatters and usury.

The party also emphasized its focus on the nation’s economic development, particularly through the promotion of agriculture-based industries, marking another priority in its electoral strategy.
