Deliberations could not take place on Lubmibi’s budget

Discussions on the annual budget of the Lumbini Province Government has not started following the disputes between the province government and the opposition parties.

Today’s meeting of the Province Assembly could not proceed deliberations on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year citing protests from the opposition CPN (UML)’s province assembly members.

The meeting has been postponed until 1:00 pm on Monday.

The UML’s province assembly members had staged protests since the beginning of the province assembly meeting today.

The UML has put its firm stance on amendment to the budget and government’s written response to its demand.

Amid protests from the opposition, Finance Minister of Lumbini Province Dhan Bahadur Maski tabled a proposal for theoretical discussions on the budget but the opposition’s lawmakers surrounded the well in the House, barring the minister for speaking.
