Deputy Mayor of Nalgadh Municipality Tragically Lost in Earthquake

Deputy Mayor Sarita Singh of Nalgadh Municipality in Jajarkot, representing the Nepali Congress party, lost her life during the earthquake that struck last night. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by Karnali Province Police Chief DIG Bhim Dhakal.

The earthquake, which occurred during the late hours, sent shockwaves through the region, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Deputy Mayor Sarita Singh was among the unfortunate victims of this natural disaster, as she was asleep at her residence in the municipality’s headquarters when the quake struck.

The earthquake’s tragic toll has now reached 129, with 92 reported fatalities in Jajarkot and an additional 37 in Rukum West. The number of casualties continues to rise as dedicated rescue teams work relentlessly to locate survivors and offer vital assistance.
