Dhalkebar-Bara Electricity Transmission Line Construction Completed

The construction of the Dhalkebar-Bara section under the Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Inaruwa 400 kV transmission line project has been successfully completed. This significant project aims to strengthen Nepal’s electricity transmission system and expand energy trade with India.

The completed section covers a 100-kilometer stretch from the Dhalkebar substation in Dhanusha to Saraswati Danda, located at the border of Bara and Makawanpur. The line traverses through Mahottari, Sarlahi, and Rautahat districts. Additionally, the 154-kilometer 400 kV double circuit transmission line from Dhalkebar to the Inaruwa substation in Sunsari’s Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-4 has been operational since June.

To facilitate a smoother flow of electricity from Dhalkebar to the western regions, a circuit of the 60-kilometer 400 kV transmission line from Dhalkebar to the forest near Chandranigahapur Bazaar in Rautahat has been charged at 132 kV through a ‘tapping’ method. The charging process was carried out in the presence of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director, Kulman Ghising.

According to Ghising, the completion of the 400 kV transmission line, now charged at 132 kV, will help address the current energy shortage during winter by allowing the import of additional electricity from India through the Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur inter-country transmission line. The system will also enable efficient water storage from semi-reservoir projects like Kulekhani, Upper Tamakoshi, Kaligandaki, Marsyangdi, and Madhya Marsyangdi, which can be utilized for power generation during nighttime.

The successful completion of this project is expected to enhance power management and ensure a more stable electricity supply from Dhalkebar to the western regions of Nepal.
