Dhankuta Bus Accident Death Toll Rises to Three

The death toll from the Dhankuta bus accident has climbed to three after another victim succumbed to injuries early this morning.

Leela Bahadur Shrestha, 58, of Shadananda Municipality-13, died during treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan at around 4:00 am, according to police.

The accident occurred on Monday when a passenger bus (Ko 1 Kha 2177), en route to Dhankuta from Dharan, crashed in Dhankuta Municipality-6.

Two others—Krishna Kumari Bhujel, 73, of Dhankuta Municipality-6, and the bus driver, Rudra Tamang, 51, of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-13—died the same day while undergoing treatment at Dhankuta Hospital.

Several others were injured in the accident, including Surya Mani Tamang and Anamol Tamang of Shadananda-13, Krishna Raut of Barahachhetra-2, Ganga Prasad Sapkota of Pauwadungma-3, Sabina Baraili and Devi BK of Bhojpur-11, Hansha Bahadur Rai and Dirgha Maya Rai of Sagurigadhi-6, Purna Maya Tamang of Shadananda-11, Ayush Rai of Itahari, and Dhan Kumar BK of Dhankuta-6.

The injured are currently receiving treatment at Dhankuta Hospital, Nobel Hospital, and BPKIHS.
