Dharan Job Fair 2082 Kicks Off to Boost Youth Employment

The two-day Dharan Job Fair 2082 began on Thursday at Public High School in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-12, with the event concluding today. The fair is a joint initiative of the Social Development Ministry of Koshi Province, Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, and the Dharan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The primary objective of the fair is to create employment opportunities for Nepali youth and to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers across various sectors including local industries, business, tourism, hospitality, education, and healthcare.

Speaking at the inauguration, Koshi Province’s Minister for Social Development, Panch Karn Rai, expressed confidence that the fair would serve as a vital platform for connecting employers with potential employees and supporting workforce development in the region.

Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Harkaraj Rai shared that the fair is expected to directly provide employment to around 500 youth, while an additional 5,000 individuals will benefit from career counseling, skill-based training, and other employment-related services.

“This initiative aims to address the shortage of skilled human resources in our local industries and curb the trend of youth migration to foreign countries in search of employment,” the mayor stated.

A total of 31 stalls have been set up, featuring local businesses, training institutions, and companies offering opportunities in technical, administrative, and labor sectors.

Notable attendees at the event included Deputy Mayor Ayindra Bikram Begha, Dharan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chair Bijaya Shrestha, and Koshi Province Assembly Member Yashoda Kayastha, among others.
