DIG Arjun Chand Transferred Amidst Dispute
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Arjun Chand, who served as the chief of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Security Office, has been reassigned to the Nepal Police Headquarters amidst growing unrest at the airport.
The Ministry of Home Affairs initiated Chand’s transfer following dissatisfaction with the handling of a recent misunderstanding between immigration officials and security personnel stationed at TIA. The decision comes in the wake of heightened tensions among police personnel and immigration office staff.
The transfer follows a series of events sparked by an incident where a bureaucrat-led committee found security personnel at fault. In response, DIG Chand initially tendered his resignation. However, after reconsideration, he withdrew his resignation, pledging to resume his duties.
Despite this, while on leave, Chand has been reassigned from his position at the airport to the Nepal Police Headquarters. This move underscores ongoing efforts to address the challenges and maintain operational integrity within Nepal’s critical transportation infrastructure.
