DPM Khadka pledges to make Law Ministry’s role effective
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Purna Bahadur Khadka, has said Law Ministry has multi-dynamic role and responsibility in the context of coordination among executive, legislature and judiciary.
Talking to media persons after assuming office at the Ministry, Law Minister Khadka assured he would make the ministry role effective and systematic to advance parliamentary business in coordination with the Speaker of the HoR and Chairperson of the NA.
“Process for the formulation of laws concerning human rights and fundamental freedoms has been forwarded. Laws of provinces will be formulated being based on the federal acts.”, the minister added.
Efforts would be made to approve the bills connected with the implementation of federalism putting it in priority, Khadka said.
He clarified the Ministry would carry out its performance on priority basis by charting out an action plan on the matter of endorsing federal act.
Also the Defense Minister, Khadka said an agenda regarding appointment of the chief justice had entered in today’s meeting of the Constitutional Council.
Sharing that the Council Chairperson, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ presented the agenda regarding necessity and rationale of appointment of chief justice, DPM Khadka expressed the belief that chief justice would be appointed on consensus.
DPM Khadka assumed the office at the Ministry today after President Ramchandra Paudel, upon recommendation of the Prime Minister, assigned him to look after Law Ministry affairs.
