Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, convened a strategic meeting today with high-ranking officials from various ministries to ensure a purposeful outcome from his forthcoming visit to China.
Gathering at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, DPM Shrestha probed into the progress of executed agreements with China, laying the groundwork for fruitful discussions during his visit.
The assembled officials advocated for comprehensive talks with the Chinese counterparts covering critical sectors such as energy, trade, tourism, connectivity, agriculture, technology transfer, and border management.
Scheduled from March 24 to April 1, DPM Shrestha’s official visit to the People’s Republic of China comes at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, a significant member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee’s Political Bureau.
The focal point of the trip is a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Wang Yi on March 26, alongside engagements with eminent dignitaries across Beijing and other provinces.
In the preparatory meeting, DPM Shrestha reaffirmed his commitment to fortifying bilateral relations and fostering mutual cooperation between the two nations.
“My visit aims to bolster our ties and deepen mutual cooperation. We will also assess the progress of previously established agreements with China,” stated DPM Shrestha.
Among the notable attendees were National Security Advisor Shanker Das Bairagi, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, Finance Ministry Secretary (Revenue) Dr. Ram Prasad Ghimire, Defence Ministry Secretary Kiran Raj Sharma, Energy Ministry Secretary Gopal Prasad Sigdel, and Irrigation Secretary Sushil Chandra Tiwari, among others.
The collaborative efforts underscore a concerted commitment to advancing diplomatic relations and exploring avenues for enhanced collaboration between Nepal and China.
