DSP Thug Bahadur KC Dismissed from Service Following Involvement in Gold Scandal
The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken decisive action against Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Thug Bahadur KC, who was embroiled in a gold scandal, by removing him from his position. DSP KC, formerly stationed at the Butwal area police office, was suspended in connection with the shocking gold bribery case.
Home Secretary Dinesh Bhattarai made the decision to remove DSP KC from the police force in accordance with police regulations, DSP KC would not face disqualification from future government service. The official order to dismiss DSP KC has been forwarded to the police headquarters for implementation.
The decision to remove DSP KC came after a thorough internal investigation conducted by the Police Head Office, which found that he had violated the Police Act with serious misconduct.
The investigation committee revealed that DSP KC had accepted a bribe of 850,000 rupees from a prominent gold merchant in Butwal, promising to return 35 tolas of gold in exchange. However, he failed to fulfill his promise and did not return the gold to the rightful owner.
To scrutinize the matter further, a 5-member committee, led by Senior Superintendent of Police Chandrakuber Khapung, was appointed to investigate the case.
Subsequently, DSP KC was apprehended by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) team, along with the confiscated gold, checks worth Rs. 950,000, and a sum of cash.
The investigation brought to light DSP KC’s actions, indicating that he had kept the gold belonging to Kisan BK, the Butwal gold merchant, without following the proper investigation procedures and without informing his superiors. Shockingly, he retained the gold at his residence until December 11th, engaging in negotiations with the businessman.
During the course of the investigation, evidence showed that DSP KC demanded money from the gold merchant without fulfilling his end of the bargain to return the gold, deepening the gravity of the scandal.
The arrest of DSP Thug Bahadur KC occurred just a day before he was scheduled to be transferred from Butwal to Kaski. He was promptly suspended from duty following his arrest.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken a firm stance on corruption and misconduct within the police force, vowing to uphold the integrity and trustworthiness of law enforcement agencies. By taking swift action against those involved in such scandals, they aim to maintain the public’s faith in the country’s law enforcement system.
