Earthquake Victims Appeal to President for Food, Shelter, and More

President Ram Chandra Poudel arrived in the earthquake-affected region of Jajarkot, Nepal, today to assess the situation and offer support to the victims of the recent seismic event.

Upon his arrival, President Poudel immediately visited the Jajarkot hospital to inquire about the well-being of the injured. In an emotional interaction with the survivors, the injured appealed for essential assistance, including medical treatment, food, housing, and the means for long-term survival.

President Poudel, deeply moved by their pleas, reassured the affected individuals that everything necessary for their well-being, including food and shelter, would be provided. He pledged to engage with the government to ensure the swift delivery of aid to the earthquake victims.

The Chief District Officer of Jajarkot, Suresh Sunar, took the opportunity to brief the President on the extent of damage caused by the earthquake. Local medical professionals also shared insights into the condition of the injured, underlining the urgent need for medical care and relief.

President Poudel made the journey to Jajarkot from Surkhet, demonstrating his commitment to understanding the dire circumstances faced by the earthquake survivors. To assess the relief and rescue operations, President Paudel will visit Jajarkot’s Khalanga, Ramidanda, Nalgad and Aathbiskot of Rukum West today.

President Poudel decided to postpone his scheduled international trip to France, Italy, and Germany, which was set to commence this Wednesday. His press adviser, Kiran Pokharel, conveyed this decision through a press release on Monday, explaining that it would be inappropriate to leave the country in the aftermath of such a devastating natural disaster. The President’s immediate focus remains on providing aid and support to the earthquake-affected areas and their residents.
