14th Oct 2022
Eight rights-oriented constitutional commissions will jointly monitor and evaluate the elections to the members of the House of Representatives and the provincial assemblies to be held on November 20.
A meeting of the chairpersons of the National Human Rights Commission, Madhesi Commission, Women’s Commission, Tharu Commission, National Inclusion Commission, Muslim Commission, and Dalit Commission has decided to form a joint mechanism to monitor the elections and evaluate them and make recommendations to the government.
As the role of constitutional commissions is important during the election, the meeting has decided to seriously monitor issues such as people’s freedom, fundamental rights, and human rights.
