Eight Die from Suffocation in Cold Chain Vehicle in Central China

Eight people were confirmed dead due to suffocation in a refrigerated truck in central China’s Henan Province early on Sunday, according to a local investigation team.
The eight individuals had been in the insulated compartment of the vehicle, which violated regulations. They were discovered unconscious when the truck stopped at a gas station around 10 p.m. on Saturday in Hongzhuangyang Township, Yexian County. Despite medical efforts, they were pronounced dead at 3 a.m. on Sunday, as stated by the team in a Sunday statement.
The driver of the vehicle and other responsible personnel have been detained, and an investigation into the incident’s cause is underway.
