Eight-year-old Student Found Dead in Hostel
An eight-year-old student identified as Salam Pulami Magar, studying in Grade 2, was discovered hanging from a double-decker bed in the hostel of Usha Bal Vatika Secondary School. The school is situated in front of Birendranagar Municipality-6 Ghanta Ghar in Surkhet.
The tragedy took a suspicious turn when the child’s relatives, who hail from Chamunda Bindrasaini Municipality-1 of Dailekh, arrived at the scene. They encircled the hostel, alleging foul play in the child’s demise, and have prevented the removal of the body.
DSP Lakshman Shahi, stationed at the District Police Office in Surkhet, reported that the body could not be transported for post-mortem due to the relatives’ obstruction.
Tensions escalated on the premises of Usha school as the child’s relatives vandalized parts of the hostel and set fire to the school. In response, police forces have been deployed to maintain order within the school grounds.
As of now, the school administration has not issued a statement regarding this tragic incident.
