Electricity Worth Rs 12.37 Billion Sold to India in 4 Months
Nepal has successfully exported electricity worth 12.37 billion Nepalese Rupees to India over the first four months of the current fiscal year.
This achievement, spanning the months of Shrawan, Bhadra, Ashoj, and Kartik, not only caters to Nepal’s domestic energy needs but also positions the nation as a key energy supplier in the region.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has reported that this surge in electricity exports has played a pivotal role in reducing the trade deficit between Nepal and India, further contributing to the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
The authority initiated the sale of surplus electricity generated during the rainy season on Jestha 28th, in the Indian market.
Currently, the authority is actively selling approximately 110 MW of power to the Indian company NTPC Vidyut Vyar Nigam.
