Golden Jubilee Scholarship: A Testament to India-Nepal Partnership
Launched in 2002 to celebrate 50 years of India-Nepal economic cooperation, the Golden Jubilee Scholarship has empowered over 3,500 Nepali students from all 77 districts of Nepal. Each year, the program supports 200 students, with about one-third of the recipients being female. This year’s batch includes three differently-abled students, showcasing the scholarship’s commitment to inclusivity.
In addition to the Golden Jubilee Scholarship, the Government of India offers approximately 1,500 scholarships annually to Nepali students across a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, medicine, management, nursing, and performing arts. These scholarships support students pursuing undergraduate studies in Nepal, as well as undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs in India. Since 2001, nearly 40,000 Nepali students have benefited from India’s various scholarship initiatives.
The Golden Jubilee Scholarship stands as a symbol of the enduring friendship between India and Nepal, fostering academic partnerships and deeper people-to-people ties. The scholarships not only facilitate access to quality education but also contribute to Nepal’s human resource development, promoting shared growth and progress.
Through these educational initiatives, India reaffirms its commitment to Nepal’s development, empowering the youth and strengthening the cultural and educational bonds that unite the two neighboring countries.
