European Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen meets Prime Minister Prachanda

The European Union’s Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen who just arrived Nepal earlier today has met with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

She along with a delegation met with the Prime Minister Dahal on Wednesday.

The European Union’s Commissioner has arrived in Nepal in course of her one-day official visit.

Her visit is aimed to strengthen EU’s partnership with Nepal, and engage on matters of common geopolitical interest, according to the Delegation of the European Union in Kathmandu.

During her visit, she will also met with Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Bimala Rai Paudyal. Also, she will inaugurate the assistances worth the 50 million Euro for the new education area project in Nepal. The project is expected to increase children’s access to education, and enhance quality education.

The EU has said that it was positive about boosting a smart, clean and secure links in digital, energy and transport sectors and strengthening health, education and research systems across the world while presenting its Global Gateway strategy.

It has also prioritised assistances for Nepal’s green economy, human development index and good governance promotion.

Similarly, during the visit, commissioner Urpilainen will visit Human Milk Bank at the Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital and renew the EU’s commitment to the Multi-Sector Nutrition Programme of the Government (supported by the EU, Germany and UNICEF) with Minister for Health and Population Padam Giri.
