Fake Bhutanese Refugee Scam: Bechan Jha Arrested in Kanchanpur

Bechan Jha, a key figure wanted in connection with the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, has been apprehended by police in Kanchanpur. Jha, accused of acting as a mediator, allegedly facilitated meetings between brokers and senior officials, including the Home Minister and the Secretary. His arrest comes following a concerted effort by law enforcement agencies to track down individuals involved in the scam.

In a related development, Prateek Thapa, the son of former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal, was previously arrested in Boudha, Kathmandu, also in connection with the same case. Thapa had been evading arrest before being captured by authorities.
