Fire in Mahabharat Forest of Kavrepalanchowk Remains Uncontrolled

The massive fire that erupted in the Mahabharat Community Forest in the southern part of Kavrepalanchowk remains out of control as authorities struggle to contain the blaze. The fire, which began on Tuesday afternoon at Thamlekh Danda in Khanikhola Rural Municipality-1, has continued to spread.
Chief District Officer (CDO) Umesh Kumar Dhakal confirmed that teams from the Nepali Army and police have been deployed to the area since Wednesday evening, working alongside local residents to extinguish the flames.
CDO Dhakal stated that security personnel have been instructed to monitor the affected area and nearby human settlements to prevent the fire from spreading further. Authorities have also been directed to evacuate residents if necessary to avoid potential damage or loss of life.
Additional manpower and firefighting resources will be mobilized in coordination with relevant stakeholders to intensify fire control efforts, Dhakal added.
The Division Forest Office in Dhulikhel reported that the fire broke out at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Krishna Bahadur Thapa, the head of the Forest Office, said a team has been dispatched to the site to assess the situation and support containment efforts.
Thapa also mentioned that a joint meeting involving the District Administration Office and district-based security agencies is scheduled for today to develop a more effective strategy to combat the fire.
