“First President was elected in our proposal,” says Oli
CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli reminded that the first ever President of Nepal, Dr Ram Baran Yadav, was elected to the post on the proposal and support of his party.
Talking to journalists today after his party registered candidacy for the post of Vice-President, Chairperson Oli recollected that his party began to field party candidates for the post thereafter.
Similarly, Astha Laxmi Shakya, CPN (UML)’s Vice-Chairperson, who is contesting for the Vice-Presidential election, remarked that those having faith in democracy should go for a healthy competition in the upcoming vice-presidential election.
Her party decided to field her in the upcoming election in the party’s meeting today and Shakya registered her nomination at the office of the Election Officer established at the Federal Parliament Building at New Baneshwor today itself.
The election to the post of Vice-President is taking place on March 17.
