FNCCI President Urges Investors to Explore Nepal’s Promising Sectors
Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has invited global investors to take advantage of Nepal’s growing economy, speaking at the 3rd Nepal Investment Summit 2024.
Dhakal highlighted Nepal’s strategic position between China and India, making it a crucial gateway to these significant markets. He stressed the plethora of investment opportunities in sectors such as tourism, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, technology, and information and communications technology (ICT).
Particularly, Dhakal pointed to the enormous potential in the renewable energy sector, referencing recent power trade agreements with India and Bangladesh as proof of Nepal’s capabilities in hydropower generation and its ability to engage in regional energy trade.
He also underlined the critical need for upgraded infrastructure in key areas like tourism, agriculture, and technology to maximize the benefits from Nepal’s rich cultural heritage and natural landscapes, coupled with its young and energetic workforce.
The FNCCI President also emphasized the importance of investing in technical education to meet the growing demand for skilled labor, which would enhance domestic employment and increase remittances.
Dhakal applauded the government’s ongoing efforts to establish a conducive environment for foreign investments through favorable policies and bilateral agreements. He noted FNCCI’s role in raising investor confidence through international business summits in cities like New Delhi, Beijing, and Dubai, and reaffirmed the Nepali private sector’s commitment to supporting joint ventures.
Concluding his address, Dhakal expressed confidence in Nepal’s potential for economic growth and sustainable development, urging international investors to partner in Nepal’s journey towards prosperity.
