Foreign Minister Alarmed: Hundreds of Nepali Youths Missing or Injured in Russian Army!
Foreign Minister NP Saud raised alarming issues regarding Nepali citizens allegedly involved in the Russian Army. Minister Saud stated that there have been numerous complaints of hundreds of Nepali people being injured or missing within the Russian military.
According to Saud, approximately 200 Nepali youths are suspected to have joined the Russian Army, with around 100 of them reported as missing or injured. The Russian government has informed Nepali authorities that some citizens have indeed joined their military, and unfortunately, seven of them have lost their lives.
In response to the situation, the Nepali government has taken immediate steps to address the concerns. Minister Saud revealed that the Nepali Embassy in Moscow has been directed to communicate the government’s worries to Russian officials, emphasizing the involvement of the National Human Rights Commission.
To discourage Nepali citizens from seeking military recruitment in Russia, Saud announced that a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) is now mandatory. This requirement applies to individuals traveling to Russia from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, as well as six countries in the Gulf region.
Regarding the Nepali citizens allegedly held captive in Ukraine, Minister Saud stated that he is in contact with the Ukrainian government and the Nepali Ambassador to Ukraine. Diplomatic communications are underway to secure the release of those affected.
In addition, the International Red Cross has been enlisted to facilitate the immediate release of four Nepali prisoners of war. Minister Saud assured that efforts are being made to rescue Nepali student Bipin Joshi, whose condition is unknown following an attack by Hamas in Israel. He disclosed that he personally met with the Prime Minister of Qatar and the International Red Cross to work towards Joshi’s rescue.
Tragically, ten Nepali students lost their lives in the Hamas attack in Israel on September 27, while Bipin Joshi’s current condition remains uncertain. Minister Saud expressed optimism about Joshi’s release in the next ceasefire. The government is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of Nepali citizens affected by these international incidents.
