Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba Calls for Focus on Economic Diplomacy
Nepal’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, has urged newly-appointed ambassadors and exporters to prioritize and expand economic diplomacy to bolster the nation’s development and prosperity.
Speaking at an interaction program held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, Minister Deuba emphasized that economic diplomacy is a key policy priority for achieving Nepal’s developmental goals. She highlighted the importance of leveraging diplomatic missions to address challenges hindering economic progress and to realize the nation’s aspirations for prosperity.
“The current state of Nepal’s economy requires a robust push through economic diplomacy. Our diplomatic missions must actively attract foreign investment and promote Nepal’s export potential by showcasing our business opportunities,” she stated.
Minister Deuba urged ambassadors to work on unveiling Nepal’s business potential in their respective host countries, while also promoting investment opportunities in Nepal. She stressed the need for effective and result-oriented diplomacy, assuring that the Ministry will provide adequate resources and support to under-resourced diplomatic missions.
For exporters, she encouraged better coordination with Nepal’s embassies and the Foreign Ministry to address challenges in international trade. She also advised entrepreneurs to improve the packaging and presentation of Nepali products to enhance their competitiveness in the global market.
The Minister’s remarks underscore Nepal’s focus on integrating economic goals into its diplomatic endeavors, aiming to uplift the nation’s economy through strategic partnerships and trade expansion.
