Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba Departs for Japan to Attend Global Conference on Elderly Social Isolation

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba departed for Japan on Sunday night to attend an international conference in Tokyo focused on addressing social isolation and loneliness among the elderly.

The event, titled “Addressing Social Isolation and Loneliness Among Older People,” is being organized by the Foundation for the Welfare and Education of the Asian People. It will bring together ministers, senior government officials, and social activists from more than a dozen countries.

Minister Rana is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the conference, representing Nepal. She has been invited as a special guest in recognition of her longstanding work in promoting economic empowerment and social protection for Nepali women through initiatives such as the Rural Women and Development Centre and the Safe Motherhood Network.

In addition to attending the conference, Dr Rana will hold several high-level bilateral meetings during her stay in Japan. She is expected to return to Nepal on Saturday.
