In a proactive move to secure the release of Nepali citizen Bipin Joshi, reportedly held by the rebel group Hamas in Israel, Foreign Minister NP Saud is scheduled to visit Qatar on December 9. This diplomatic effort follows a prior appeal made by Minister Saud to Qatari State Minister for Foreign Affairs Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi on November 21 during a courtesy call at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Singha Durbar. The Qatari State Minister assured assistance for Joshi’s release.
Engaging in further diplomatic initiatives, Minister Saud reached out to the ambassador of Israel on November 23 to discuss and expedite the release of Bipin Joshi.
Today, Foreign Minister Saud met with the parents of Bipin Joshi in Mahendranagar, the hometown district of Kanchanpur, expressing solidarity and reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to securing their son’s release.
During his upcoming visit to Qatar, Foreign Minister Saud is not only focused on the diplomatic efforts for Joshi’s release but will also participate in the 21st Doha Forum, scheduled to commence on December 10 and last for two days. Qatar has been actively mediating between Israel and Hamas, playing a key role in efforts to secure the release of hostages and promote a ceasefire in the region.
As the diplomatic efforts intensify, the Nepali government remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and swift return of Bipin Joshi, with Minister Saud’s visit to Qatar expected to play a pivotal role in advancing these efforts. The 21st Doha Forum provides an additional platform for diplomatic engagements, reflecting the multifaceted approach adopted by Nepal to address international concerns while actively participating in regional forums.
