Former CM Karki Hands Over CM’s Residence Key 22 Days After Resignation

Former Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Kedar Karki, handed over the key to the Chief Minister’s residence on Friday, 22 days after his resignation on May 8. The keys were sent to the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers via his personal secretary, Diwas Rajvanshi.

Along with the keys, Karki returned three government vehicles that were under his possession during his tenure. This handover marks a significant step in the transition of provincial leadership.

Following his resignation, Karki filed a writ petition with the Supreme Court, demanding his reinstatement and contesting the legitimacy of the new Chief Minister’s appointment. The court has yet to reach a decision on the petition.

In the meantime, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat has dispatched staff to the residence of current Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki. They noted that it would take a couple of days to clean and prepare the residence, which had been unoccupied for over three weeks.

The smooth transition of the Chief Minister’s residence is crucial for maintaining administrative efficiency and stability within the province. The resolution of Karki’s legal challenge remains a key point of interest in the ongoing political developments in Koshi Province.
