Former Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari Appointed to Central Bank Recommendation Committee

The government has appointed former Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari as a member of the Governor Recommendation Committee, which is responsible for proposing suitable candidates to head Nepal Rastra Bank. The decision was made during a recent cabinet meeting, as announced by Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung on Saturday.
Adhikari replaces former Governor Bijayanath Bhattarai, who stepped down from the committee. The cabinet meeting also endorsed several other decisions across different sectors. Among them, the government approved the provision of uniforms for contract-based armed forest guards under the Ministry of Forest and Environment.
In the security sector, a Brigadier General has been promoted to Major General, while two Colonels have been elevated to the rank of Brigadier General. Addressing human resource shortages in the health sector, the government has approved the creation of temporary positions at the Health Insurance Board, Geta Hospital, Sushil Koirala Cancer Hospital, and Dadeldhura Hospital for the fiscal year 2081/82 BS.
Furthermore, the cabinet approved regulatory amendments, including the Health Insurance (First Amendment) Regulations 2081 BS, the Nepal Hajj Committee (Formation and Operation) Order 2081 BS, and the Nepal Smart City Indexes 2081 BS. It has also authorized the tabling of a bill to amend the Children Act 2075 BS in the federal parliament.
Minister Gurung concluded by confirming that the government will proceed with the implementation of the recent nine-point agreement reached with the Nepal Teachers’ Federation.
