
Former MP Khemraj Bhatta ‘Mayalu’ passes away


Former Member of Parliament Khemraj Bhatta ‘Mayalu’ passed away last night. The 76-year-old former MP was receiving treatment for cancer at Bir Hospital, Mayalu’s brother Chhabilal confirmed.
Popularly known as a republican politician in the country, Mayalu was elected the House of Representative (HoR) from Bardiya constituency- 3 in 2056 BS.
Born in Dungari village of Dadeldhura district, Mayalu had joined politics from the student movement and later joined hands with Ramraja Prasad Singh to wage movement for the establishment of republican system in the country.
He leaves behind two sons.
It is said that Mayalu’s final rites would be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat today itself.
