Four Arrested for Submitting Fake Academic Certificates at US Embassy in Nepal
Police have arrested and made public four individuals accused of presenting fake academic certificates at the US Embassy in Nepal while attempting to enter the United States under the Electronic Diversity Visa (EDV) program.
The arrested individuals are Goma Pandey from Mahalaxmi Municipality-8 in Lalitpur, Anil Kumar Mahato from Lalbandi-10 in Sarlahi, Gopal Prasad Ghimire from Arjundhara Municipality-8 in Jhapa, and Subash Dhakal, 43, from Khandbari Municipality-9 in Sankhuwasabha. All four were temporarily residing in Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.
Superintendent of Police Kaji Kumar Acharya, the information officer for the Kathmandu Valley Crime Division in Teku, confirmed that the accused were caught with fake documents, including Secondary Education Examination (SEE) and +2 certificates, which they attempted to use at the Embassy. The arrests were made near the US Embassy, and the suspects have been transferred to the District Police Range Bhadrakali, Kathmandu, for further legal action.
