Four working papers to be presented in Judicial Committee National Conference

Four working papers would be presented in Judicial Committee National Conference going to be held in Kathmandu from March 29. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City is organising the two-day conference.

KMC Deputy Mayor and Coordinator of Judicial Committee, Sunita Dangol, said Indu Tuladhar would present working paper regarding concept of judicial committee, legal provision relating to the judicial committee, jurisdiction of judicial committee on justice delivery and its exercise.

Similarly, Dr Sarita Khanal would give presentation on judicial decisions of judicial committee and process to be adopted mandatorily for the same.

The third working paper is related to reconciliation process in local levels’ dispute resolution and its promotion. Ram Krishna Kafle would present it.

Likewise, institutional mechanism for justice delivery and its overall process is the fourth theme to be discussed in the conference. Head of KMC’s Law, Justice and Human Rights Department, Basanta Acharya would present the working paper on it.

There would be participation of all 753 local levels including KMC in the conference. Deputy-Mayor Dangol shared, “We have requested coordinators of judicial committees of all local levels. We have also asked to send judicial committee member if the coordinator is unable to participate in the conference.”

The conference is going to be organised with an objective of exchanging experience of justice delivery at all local levels.
There is a plan to form national, province and district-level network of the judicial committee.
