
Fourth Cooperative Fraud Case Filed Against RSP President Rabi Lamichhane

A fourth cooperative fraud case has been registered against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane. The latest case was filed at the Chitwan District Court on Tuesday in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
The District Government Attorney’s Office in Chitwan has lodged cases against 15 individuals, including Lamichhane, as well as six organizations. According to the prosecution, while Lamichhane has been charged with cooperative fraud, 12 others face additional charges of organized crime. The police investigation estimates that Rs 389.79 million was embezzled, with total misappropriations possibly reaching Rs 562.23 million when linked transactions are considered.
Previously, similar fraud cases were registered against Lamichhane in the Kaski, Kathmandu, and Rupandehi District Courts. He was released on bail in each case, posting Rs 6.5 million, Rs 6 million, and Rs 10 million, respectively.
An additional case related to the Parsa Small Cooperative is under investigation, and authorities suggest legal action may soon be initiated in the Parsa District Court. A closed hearing on the Chitwan case is expected to take place soon.
