French Embassy Honors Nepali Paralympic Medalist Palesha Goverdhan
The French Embassy in Nepal has felicitated Nepali athlete Palesha Goverdhan for her remarkable achievement in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Palesha, Nepal’s first Paralympic medalist, won a bronze medal in the women’s 57kg category of Para taekwondo, marking a proud moment in Nepal’s sporting history.
The event, held in Kathmandu, was attended by Minister for Youth and Sports, Teju Lal Chaudhary, along with sports representatives and business leaders. French Ambassador Virginie Corteval congratulated Palesha, saying, “You are a beacon of hope and determination. Your journey reflects the audacity to dream and conquer challenges, showcasing the immense talent of Nepali athletes to the world.”
In addition to celebrating Palesha’s success, the event introduced the Choose France/Marque France initiative, which fosters collaboration in business, culture, and education between France and other nations, including Nepal. Goverdhan’s achievement was highlighted as a reflection of the shared values of perseverance, cooperation, and excellence between both countries.
The French Embassy also announced the Choose France Tour on September 28, 2024, at the Alliance Française in Kathmandu. The event will provide Nepali students with an opportunity to explore studying in France and meet representatives from over 15 prestigious French educational institutions.
