Gagan Thapa Calls for Temporary Removal of Disputed MP and Ministers
During the recent zero hour session of the House of Representatives, Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Gagan Thapa has urged authorities to conduct thorough investigations into ministers and parliamentarians entangled in various disputes.
Thapa, specifically addressing those currently under scrutiny by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) for allegations ranging from government land embezzlement to citizenship disputes and co-operative fraud, emphasized the importance of temporarily removing them from their positions.
In a symbolic gesture, Thapa suggested shrouding the flags of parliamentarians involved in alleged wrongdoings, indicating their temporary suspension pending investigation.
He stressed the necessity for decisive action against those facing CIAA investigations, advocating for their temporary removal until innocence is proven.
Thapa stated, “Let’s keep the parliamentarians or ministers involved in the controversy at home and investigate, and welcome them back innocently with flower garlands.”
Furthermore, he emphasized that if guilt is established, appropriate punishment should be administered accordingly.
